Our rendition of ‘We Need Net Zero’ really lit up Glasgow city centre
Today’s main news is the fantastic flashmob organised by the Young Generation Network in the centre of Glasgow’s streets. As you can see from the video below, a huge crowd of volunteers joined in with the amazing high-energy display put on by our professional dancers (many of whom were really keen to learn about nuclear technology):https://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?type=text%2Fhtml&key=a19fcc184b9711e1b4764040d3dc5c07&schema=twitter&url=https%3A//twitter.com/ni_ygn/status/1455925900554477572&image=https%3A//i.embed.ly/1/image%3Furl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fabs.twimg.com%252Ferrors%252Flogo46x38.png%26key%3Da19fcc184b9711e1b4764040d3dc5c07You’ll be humming this to yourself all week
Even Bella, our huge inflatable gummy bear, put in an appearance! And interestingly enough, some of us had an encounter with some Greenpeace fundraisers on the way to the St Enoch square location. Far from being a confrontational slanging match, both instead engaged in polite conversation with us and even took one of our postcards. Who knows — maybe they’ll eventually change their minds?
Elsewhere in the Blue Zone, our many volunteers were talking to as many delegates they could find — seeking out events and ministers to spread the word about nuclear energy.
Overall, the mood was more relaxed than the previous two days, when world leaders and celebrities were sweeping through the building. The booth was busy again, and the volunteers are having more and more conversations with government officials, civil servants and members of the press. Just think: one of these conversations might plant a seed that changes the destiny of a whole country. Amazing, isn’t it? But it’s why we do this.
